BIO
Anne Lopez has a passion for dots. Stripes, colors and slick surfaces, too, using repetition and pattern to comment on beauty, decoration and indulgence.

The Pittsburgh-based visual artist has investigated pattern in her contemporary impressionistic paintings and sculpture for the last 10 years, but recognized her passion for art early. In college she earned a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and an MFA from Michigan's Cranbrook Academy of Art. She later taught at Western Pennsylvania's Saint Vincent College and her alma mater, CMU.

While Lopez has maintained a studio in Pittsburgh for six years, she's been awarded prestigious national exhibitions and commissions. Artist Ross Bleckner selected her work for a show he curated titled "Site Paintings," and Lopez's paintings were included in "Beautiful Things," a coffee table book published by The Guild. Lopez was selected to create two colorful dinosaurs for outdoor display at Pittsburgh's popular DinoMite Days, and her "DNA Dino," a special industrial commission, was created specifically to be unveiled by Britain's Prince Andrew. Her passion for dots can also be seen in the 20x30-foot concrete and stainless steel installation she created on commission for permanent exhibition for Pittsburgh's award-winning David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Lopez's work has been reviewed and featured in publications including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and Pittsburgh City Paper.
